The test was jointly completed by China Mobile and domestic optical fiber and cable and equipment manufacturers, and verified the performance of the anti-resonant hollow core fiber under various conditions such as traction, extrusion, water vapor, and outdoor splicing in the real environment, and achieved a number of core technical indicators such as the fusion loss of hollow-core-air-core fiber as low as 0.05dB, the hollow-core-solid core connection less than 0.3dB, and the loss of optical cable per kilometer after laying 0.6dB on the 20km link, all of which reached the "world-class level".
IT Home inquired about public information and learned that hollow-core fiber (HCF) is based on a new air light guide mechanism, which can guide light through air instead of glass, which can break through the two physical bottlenecks of capacity limit and delay limit of solid core fiber, and has obvious performance advantages in backbone and data center transmission, and is the next generation of optical communication technology.
China Mobile said that the single-wavelength 800Gbps wide-spectrum optical transmission system was used to further realize the bidirectional 128Tb/s ultra-large capacity transmission test of 20km single-core fiber based on hollow-core fiber, proving that the retro-resonant air-core fiber has the feasibility of deployment in complex pipe network environments.
In this test, the first preparation of hybrid optical cable of hollow core fiber and solid core fiber was completed based on the reverse resonant hollow core fiber, and the mechanical properties such as tensile, flattened, bending, impact, and torsion can basically meet the requirements of the general cable standard. At the same time, during the laying period, Typhoon "Maris" passed through Shenzhen and Dongguan, and China Mobile, together with the domestic industrial chain, carried out the anti-resonant hollow-core optical fiber and cable technology test for the first time under the complex pipe network environment and extremely bad weather conditions, overcoming unfavorable factors to complete the opening of the typical financial special line in the Greater Bay Area by the hollow-core optical cable, which can optimize the transmission delay of the optical link by more than 30%.
In the future, China Mobile will further focus on the loss reduction of hollow-core fibers and the design of optical fiber structures for large-scale preparation, and adopt the mode of collaborative research and development of ultra-800G transmission system and optical fiber design to carry out key technical research and verification, so as to accelerate the development of anti-resonant hollow-core fibers and their optical communication systems.
